8. Church of Our Lord’s Sacred Heart (the new cemetery)

Close to the old cemetery, further up the road to the castle, the new cemetery extends on a slope offering a scenic view of the Volyňka River valley. The upper part of the cemetery includes the Church of Our Lord’s Sacred Heart, a simple but powerful and stylistically pure pseudo-Gothic structure from 1912. The narrow spire with Gothic windows above the entrance and the plaster figure of a crucified Christ next to it emphasise the pensive and serious atmosphere of the site, the resting place of the present inhabitants of Vimperk.
